Education/experience
Education, training or experience in administrative support or a business related field preferred.
Job Summary
This position provides administrative, secretarial and fiscal support to faculty and staff within the department. Duties may include managing departmental files; responding to requests and greeting visitors and students either by phone, in person or email; supervising student workers and coordinating their hours; coordinating purchases; managing departmental documents; keeping faculty informed of policy and/or procedure changes; monitoring budgets and preparing budget reports; managing student applications and interviews, planning departmental functions, and preparing and reviewing travel requests.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and equipment.
Experience providing administrative or programmatic support in a professional setting.
Working knowledge with various computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based programs.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
Additional Considerations
Experience in higher education.
