Administrative Assistant IV - Athey Creek Middle School This is an 11 month position under the Classified Bargaining Unit. The start date for the position is August 1, 2023. DEFINITIONUnder the supervision of a middle school principal performs a wide variety of office management and clerical tasks, including facilitating communications between supervisor, parents, and staff; manages files and other recordkeeping systems; collects and analyzes information; prepares oral and written reports; and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSEmployees at this level serve as an informational liaison between the administrator, teachers, other district personnel, and the general public.
Employees at this level are typically the classified employee with the highest level of responsibility for the operation of an elementary school, middle school, or comparable office consisting of other classified employees. Employees at this level must exercise a high degree of independent judgement and confidentiality. EXAMPLES OF DUTIESMaintains student records relating to attendance, discipline, and grading; acts as receptionist for the office; makes recommendations to principal regarding procedures and practices for office operation; receives, interprets, and prepares appropriate records of oral communication; and performs related office, bookkeeping, and clerical tasks; other duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:Business English, spelling, punctuation, and mathematics;Current office practices, procedures, keyboarding, and equipment.Rules, regulations, procedures and functions of the district;Office management principles and ability to apply this knowledge to work problems.Prefer the candidate to be able to speak. read and write in Spanish. Ability to:Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision; Work independently on difficult clerical tasks; Type with speed and accuracy;Effectively and politely communicate with students, the public, and other employees;Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public; Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e.
records, meetings, etc. Experience:Three years of general clerical experience. Education:High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
