Title: Adjunct Child Development Associate (CDA) Instructor

Qualifications:
- Current CDA credentialing, Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Professional Development, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years of experience working in the social service or educational setting.
- Experience with developing and/or implementing training and/or professional development programs.

Reports to: Director of FTC Adult Education

- Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.

- Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources.
- Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.
- Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
- Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
- Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.
Summary
The Adjunct Child Development Associate (CDA) Instructor must demonstrate the following:
- Provides classroom management and instruction, and assures the general effectiveness of the CDA program.
- Provides subject matter expertise and actively participates in the curriculum development, revision and implementation process.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for the delivery of the CDA-approved training program curriculum.
- Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness.
- Understanding of the CDA process and the ability to assist childcare staff in obtaining the CDA credential.
- Counsels students regarding academic and attendance compliance.
- Assist with securing relationships with various schools, training centers, colleges, and universities for the purpose of referring childcare staff for additional education.
- Compile student data and information to complete various reports.
- Deliver services with an understanding and basic knowledge of the program content area policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide classroom management procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of teaching methods, facilitation skills, curriculum, and education programs.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in-classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc.)
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Focused attention to detail, well-organized, and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.*
* This position is intended for Adult Education Instructors. The individual who holds this position will generally be indoors in a normal classroom or skills lab environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes. Relatively free from unpleasant conditions.
