The Role and the Company
Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our local team. This role is located at our Redmond, WA office and reports to the Business Operations Manager.

Key targets of the role
This position will help with the processing of payables and support purchasing controls among other administrative duties. The position of Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for completing day-to-day task of matching, uploading invoices to shared services and coding invoices. Additionally monitor the AP phone calls, statements and other duties as required.
What you’ll get to do
- Work closely with peers, supervisors and managers for purchase requests, the purchase order process, and assist in submitting to vendors
- Administrate the purchase system, issue specialty purchase orders, provide various PO reports to VP and managers
- Receive and code invoices from purchase orders and process accurately for approval
- Assist Accounts Payable Coordinator in vendor management, including setting up of new vendors, escalating payments for critical vendors, and following up with vendors as needed for payment statuses
- Data entry, facilitation of required paperwork, and support of month-end procedures as needed
- Assist in reconciling vendor statements, research, and process any missing invoices immediately
- Provide administrative coverage for various positions, if required
- Other duties as required
Essential Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3+ years of administrative experience
- Experience in accounting, Accounts Payable, and/or bookkeeping
- Advanced Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to work well as part of a team environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Must be self-motivated able to work independently, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, or accounting is an asset
- Ready-mix/aggregate/construction and/or HMA business experience preferred
- JD Edwards proficiency a plus.
