Accounts Payable Specialist

Required skills and qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong basic to low level intermediate Excel skills
• Intermediate experience with QuickBooks Desktop
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Understanding the basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
• Superb time management skills and detail orientation
• Ability to work accurately and effectively on tight timetables
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in accounting

Responsibilities:

• Review invoices for accuracy, obtain proper approvals, code and enter invoices into accounting software.
• Vendor data base maintenance, add new vendors
• Maintain Accounts Payables electronic files (includes scanning / saving invoices)
• Prepare year end 1099 worksheet
• Enter accruals and prepayments onto a worksheet
• Accomplish credit card and petty cash gl coding and reconciliation
• Accomplish vendor statement reconciliation, communicate with vendors as needed
• Maintains existing processes, meets deadlines; offers process improvement ideas
• Assist Accounting Supervisor as needed / special projects
• Additional tasks / projects as assigned
• Back up to the Accounts Receivable / Accounting Assistant role
