What's this Job All About?
The Accounting Technician is responsible for processing accounts payable, balancing various accounts, and preparing financial reports. Duties may also include coordinating payroll, ensuring tax compliance, and providing information to employees and the public. The role may involve supervising clerical accounting staff and performing additional related responsibilities as required.At the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), we work a 37.5 full-time work week, with the option of a flex-schedule. Also, the County is currently exploring remote work options of 1-2 days per week (depending on position, performance & workload). This allows our staff to find a work-life balance that best fits their needs.

Selection Procedure
The following is a tentative schedule of events that will occur as part of the selection process:
- Internal applications will be accepted from November 30, 2023 through December 6, 2023.
- External applicationsmay be accepted from December 7, 2023 through December 13, 2023.
- Screening for minimum qualifications will take place the week of December 13, 2023
- Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of December 19, 2023

Supervision: Receives direct supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.
May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower level accounting clerical staff.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge andabilities would be:
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized course work in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15. Employment Type: Full-Time
