Accounting Specialist

SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to provide accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll services for the Pool. This position also provides administrative support services to the Deputy Director. This is a non-exempt position. Work is performed following established procedures and general directions; incumbents perform work independently after assignment, applying established guidelines and alternatives to make judgments and decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.

Experience:
Four years of experience in a similar position.
Experience producing financial statements.
Intermediate knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software. (Experience with other accounting software programs will be accepted).
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate daily activities to meet schedules and complete assigned tasks.
Desired: experience working in the public sector.
Desired: familiarity with pooling.
Desired: familiarity with insurance industry terminology.

Education: Associate degree or bachelor’s degree (BA preferred) with finance/accounting coursework as part of the degree. Will consider progressively responsible experience in lieu of formal education.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Washington State driver license at the time of hire.
Existing appointment or willingness to obtain Notary Public Appointment with the Washington State Department of Licensing.
Desired: QuickBooks certification

Paid Time Off: WSTIP utilizes a paid general leave bank (combo sick leave and vacation) with new employees earning 24 days per year. Eight paid holidays are also included (holidays not included: Martin Luther King, President’s Day, and Veterans Day).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $77,672.92 - $83,205.17 per year
