Accounting Clerk

Simply Accounting HR & Taxes is a locally owned business offering a full range of bookkeeping and tax services for the small businesses in Tucson. We have been part of the small business community since 2012. We follow the highest professional standards with complete confidentiality and compliance with federal and state laws.

The Accounting Clerk is an In-Person position, that requires an ability to handle multiple clients simultaneously with exceptional communication and time management skills. This position will use bank accounts, receipts, various expense reports, and/or deposit slips to update financial information and produce financial records in QuickBooks or other accounting software. Attention to detail, accuracy, and honesty are a must. 

Work schedule:

• 8:30 AM-5PM Mon-Fri
• 38 hours a week

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Using accounting best practices
• Processing business transactions
• Reviewing invoices for payment and processing
• Maintain sales ledger and general ledger
• Monitoring vendor statements, wire transfer requests; and other transactions
• Posting customer checks, vendor payments, and ACH payments
• Correcting and modifying inaccurate files and records
• Assisting in account analysis and account coding
• Reconciling account balances
• Assisting Accounting Manager as needed
• Filing, mailing, and other duties as needed

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be analytical and confident
• Must have data entry and word processing skills
• Must be self-motivated and self-directed
• Must be accurate and pay precise attention to detail
• Must have excellent time management skills; able to prioritize
• Will be asked to assist team members when needed to accomplish team goals
• Must have minimum two years’ experience with QuickBooks
• Experience and skills in the following is preferred: accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and computer skills
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Educational Requirements:

• • • High School Diploma
    • Associate degree in Accounting or Equivalent credits preferred, not required
    • Experience in accounting/bookkeeping is preferred but not required.
