Description
Under general direction of the Accounting Manager, performs accounting tasks related to the payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial record keeping, maintenance, review, verification, and support functions.
- Prepares purchase requests securing proper signatures and coding.
- Assist with preparation of bi-weekly payroll.
- Performs accounting functions which include end of month and end of year journal entries.
- Prepares or verifies a variety of accounting, statistical, and narrative statements or reports requiring analysis of data.
- Prepares all bank reconciliation in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of the principals and practices of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and of Public Administration with emphasis on fiscal management, fund accounting, and government finance.
- Analytical and computation skills, ability to prepare and audit financial records, and ability to establish, maintain and manage internal controls.
- Competence is Windows, word processing and Excel spreadsheet software is essential.
- A degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field with 3 years or more of progressive work experience in accounting; or
- A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to 7 years or more of progressive work experience in accounting and that provides the required knowledge and abilities in the accounting field.
