Position Overview
Position Summary
Under limited supervision, process and issue payment of operational liabilities, data entry, verify accuracy in assigned duties, posting of transactions, and provide support and training for staff members.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage Business Office imaging program
  • Train, supervise, monitor and adjust workload of student employees
  • Perform complex accounting related to university purchases
  • Verify and process payment for Issue Check Requisitions, Request for Payment forms and Blanket Purchase Orders
  • Schedule and process deferred vendor payments
  • Assist with 1099-MISC processes
  • Assist with the verification and documentation of New Mexico Gross Receipts liabilities for student activities
  • Communicate with vendors and university staff - inform departments of proper procedures and ensure the procedures are followed
  • Assist with fiscal year end payable list
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years experience directly related to the duties specified or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices, including the keeping of financial accounts, records retention and preparation of reports
  • Ability to perform moderately complex bookkeeping and financial record-keeping
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Skill in the use of standard office equipment including desk calculator by touch and computer

Working Conditions
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Paid Time Off Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month. Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave. Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees. Temporary employees do not accrue leave.
Employee Educational Assistance Plan Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for one course (up to four credit hours) per semester. Employees' spouses may be eligible to use the tuition waiver during any semester that it is not being used by the employee.
