We are seeking 911 Dispatchers to join our team! As a 911 Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our community. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to handle emergency situations, work in a fast-paced environment, and multi-task. The Henrico County Department of Emergency Communications is accepting applications for 911 Dispatchers now through Monday, April 8th. The hire date for this position is Monday, August 12, 2024. ```Duties```
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency calls and requests for assistance.
- Successful 911 Dispatchers complete a paid 10–13-week Basic Communications Academy and are cross-trained in four positions: Call-taking, Police Radio Dispatching, Fire and EMS Radio Dispatching, and Teletype.
```Requirements```
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent phone etiquette and phone triage skills
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations
- Proficient in conflict management and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to type accurately at a moderate speed
