Job Description and Duties

Under direction of the Lieutenant, the incumbent will be directly responsible for the direction and coordination of the shift supervisors (PSDSI’s). Investigates complaints against PSDSI’s and other employees as necessary. Provided training and guidance on an ongoing basis for PSDSI’s. Prepares evaluations of the PSDSI’s. Responsible for hiring and training of PSD’s and PSDSI’s as needed. Maintains order, discipline and open lines of communication within the center. Reviews and approves the evaluations of Public Safety Dispatchers (PSD’s) to ensure evaluations are objective and relevant. Participates in counseling sessions between PSDSI’s and employees to ensure expected results are attained and documented. Initiates and completes assignments on time following the appropriate Department format; including, but not limited to: memorandums, letters, manual revisions, budget requests, etc. Reviews/approves absence requests, merit salary adjustments and travel expense claims of communications personnel. Serves as a review level of grievances, overtime usage, and complaints pertaining to all communications personnel. Review level for written work prepared by the PSDSI’s. Conducts or attends various meeting relating to the operation of OCCC and/or the communications personnel. Ensures Cal OES/ NENA call answer time standards are met.
