This opportunity is for SECOND SHIFT (2:00PM - 10:00PM)
SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor, under direction of Production Manager, is responsible for managing and directing the manufacturing processes of cable products for their respective shifts. They oversee the production team, manage schedules, and ensure that products are manufactured to meet quality standards and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supervise Production Activities: Oversee the daily operations of the production line, ensuring that manufacturing processes are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Team Management: Lead, motivate, and manage the production team. This includes hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring production processes and outputs to ensure that all products meet the required specifications and quality standards. This may involve conducting inspections, implementing quality control measures, and working with the quality team to address any quality issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety drills. Address any safety concerns immediately.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve production processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. Implement new technologies or methodologies as appropriate.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on production performance, including any deviations from the production plan to upper management.
  • Production Scheduling: Create and manage production schedules to meet customer demands and minimize downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of raw materials and finished products. Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving production issues and bottlenecks as they arise. This requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Scheduling and Overseeing Maintenance: Scheduling regular maintenance and checks for all production machinery and equipment. This involves coordinating with the maintenance department to ensure that machinery downtime is minimized and does not disrupt production schedules.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of the individuals within their team and carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to manage and adapt to change within the production environment. This includes implementing new processes, technologies, or organizational changes effectively.
  • Skills in resolving disputes and conflicts that may arise on the production floor in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization, fostering a collaborative work environment. This also involves cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with a diverse team.
  • Being flexible in responding to changes in schedules, production demands, or unexpected events. This includes the ability to work under pressure and manage stress effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Proficient with the use of measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, dial indicator, and gage pins.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment and cable and wiring industry.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Forklift Certified or the ability to become certified.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Fluent in the English language, both verbal and in written form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Lotus Notes, CAD package, and be proficient in the use of Excel and Microsoft Word software.
MATHEMATICAL SKILL: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to calculate percentages and plot data on graphs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
COMPENSATION: After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
