Job Summary
Supervises NURSE PRACTitioners responsible for patient evaluation, testing, diagnosis, plans of care, and treatment within UCSF Center for Reproductive Health. As a supervisor, receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the processes by which to attain them.

Required Qualifications
  • Six (6) + months NP experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as a NURSE PRACTitioner.
  • Solid knowledge of the clinical and operational issues for NURSE PRACTitioners performing advanced-practice nursing within departments and specialty areas, including evaluation, testing, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as patient-care concepts, policies, outcomes measurement, quality standards, ethics issues, quality improvement, and continuing staff education and professional development.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with all levels of clinical staff and management, consultants, researchers, and outside agencies.
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
  • Knowledge of clinical and administrative software and specialized applications and data management systems used by NURSE PRACTitioners in providing advanced-practice nursing care, research, documentation, and employee supervision.
  • Knowledge of general obstetrical care and female reproductive anatomy and physiology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years NP clinical experience in Reproductive Medicine/Endocrinology, Assisted Reproductive Technology (A.R.T.), Obstetrics/Gynecology, Women's Health Services
  • Two to three (2 - 3) years' experience with diagnostic ultrasounds.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • One to three (1 - 3) years of NP employment experience in provision of women's health clinical services.

License/Certification
  • Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

  • Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a NURSE PRACTitioner.
  • Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
