Job Description
The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco is searching for dynamic individuals to join our team as Youth Sports Coaches, specializing in youth Basketball for the upcoming 2024 Spring Youth Sport Classes. We are seeking candidates with a background in coaching and/or extensive knowledge of Basketball, combined with a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with children aged 3 to 11 years. At JCCSF, our Youth Sports program is crafted to instill both sport-specific skills and life lessons within a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. Successful applicants will embody these values while offering steadfast leadership and commitment to our young program participants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop team objectives in alignment with the JCCSF Youth Sports program philosophies.
- Organize stimulating practices and games, emphasizing fundamental skill development through positive reinforcement.
- Attend weekday classes consistently.
- Provide active guidance to the team during classes.
- Acquire and adhere to JCCSF policies and procedures.
- Maintain open and effective communication with children, parents, fellow coaches, and supervisors.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with children aged 3-11 years.
- Knowledge of early childhood development is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Basketball.
- Previous experience as a youth Basketball coach is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Availability for all scheduled classes, trainings, and meetings
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Prolonged periods of standing, typically lasting a few hours each day.
- Ability to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50lbs.
- Ability to demonstrate sport-specific skills.
- Frequent movement within the gymnasium environment during scheduled hours.
SCHEDULE
- Spring Season: March 28th, 2024 – May 16th, 2024
- Coach training/meetings in late March
HOURS
2 – 10 hours/week. Seasonal position: March – May. Must be available for the entire session, with flexibility for one to two weekday afternoons or evenings, Monday – Thursday.
