Definition
The City is seeking a Website and Social Media Specialist and a Senior Website and Social Media Specialist that will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the City's branding, website, and Social Media sites through best practices in public relations and media. Upon recruitment screening criteria, the selected candidates will be offered the position that best suits the needs of the City depending on their qualifications and experience.
Examples of Work
Website & Social Media Specialist
- Maintains a consistent and innovative design theme throughout the City website; ensures website content is accurate, relevant and updated regularly; assess and improve ease of use/accessibility of the website;
- Writes professional news releases, articles and other documents for Departments, uses best practice to prepare and release certain information to the media;
- Ensures all City Social Media content and marketing campaigns, including those maintained by other departments complies with City objectives and approved protocols/standards; monitors Social Media engagement and facilitates conversations between the audience and City departments;
- Reviews and recommends citywide policies pertaining to Social Media, marketing, and the website to maintain continuity and to set the standard for all departments to adhere to;
- Assists with increasing the City's brand equity and awareness; analyzes current and projected Social Media trends, while identifying, reporting and training strategies based on global Social Media trends;
- Develops a plan of action to facilitate information flow throughout the organization so pertinent information is dispersed in a timely manner; receives and post up-to-date information from the Emergency Operations Center and other applicable sources as necessary
- Performs duties of the Website & Social Media Specialist listed;
- Oversees content development, information distribution and functionality associated with City's Website & mobile app; ensures all City programs and services are featured;
- Analyzes and troubleshoots the flow of information on the website; plans for traffic growth and general website expansion and presents costs implications for the City;
- Administers communication specialty software such as Dreamweaver, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop Design, etc.;
- Maintains a "back-up" system for the City's website as part of the City's disaster recovery plan; integrates and updates the website as new technology emerges, to include existing and updated data through the website structure, organization, and content;
- Performs periodic market research analysis to identify opportunities for the City; collaborates with other departments and/or community partners to develop unique marketing strategies and partnerships;
- Trains Departments on processes, procedures and principles of developing and maintaining the City's website;
Education, Experience, or Certification
Website & Social Media Specialist: Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant professional experience required. Valid driver's license required.
Senior Website & Social Media Specialist: Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of relevant professional experience required. Valid driver's license required.
