Wealth Management and U.S. Banks Risk is responsible for identifying, measuring, and managing the current and emerging risks of the WM and U.S. Banks division and, in coordination with WM's and U.S. Banks' Business Control Units and Second Line Risk Management and Compliance, implementing control processes and procedures to mitigate risk consistent with WM's and U.S. Banks' risk appetite and governance framework
The First Line Wealth Management Team is looking for an innovative, driven senior executive to join its Leadership Team as Chief Operating Officer to the Head of Financial Crimes for Wealth Management and U.S. Banks. This leadership position will deliver oversight for planning, analytics, strategic, budget, and administrative activities. This individual will be responsible for developing executive-level content, analysis and presentations, team strategy, standing-up and helping to run governance forums, and tracking and reporting on progress to the organization.

Because of the broad nature of the COO role, it will require a candidate who has a proven track record of supporting and working with a senior management team, as well as with multiple functions within an organization. Critical to the new COO's success will be their ability to hit the ground running, focusing on critical priorities, earning the confidence and trust of the Wealth and U.S. Banks' Leadership Team, and helping the Department build upon its success. The individual must be discreet, able to operate independently with minimal oversight, find creative solutions to resolve issues and identify process enhancements, execute tasks and projects on a timely basis, and communicate effectively and responsively with all colleagues.

The COO will report directly to the Head of Financial Crimes for Wealth Management and U.S. Banks who is based in the NYC area.

Role:
> Strategy / Analysis and Organizational Buildout: Drive strategy / strategic initiatives and analysis to develop a cohesive and holistic strategy across Wealth Management and U.S. Banks teams; Lead organizational design and buildout of first line Financial Crimes framework, program and team
> Financial Planning: Accountable for financial forecasts / budget exercises, planning horizons, and HR milestones (Goals, MY/YE Performance, etc.); provide regular updates to Wealth Management and U.S. Banks Leadership and tailor executive presentations
> People Strategy: responsible for departmental employee engagement, training, development, communications
> Location Strategy: responsible for identifying, establishing, maintaining operational hubs
> Vendor Management: responsible for overseeing consultants functionally supporting Financial Crimes across multiple organizations with a focus on fiscal discipline
> Drive key messaging on governance and senior management updates, including Board, executive management, committees, etc.
> Interface with leadership team and communicate pertinent information across the Department & organization
> Diversity & Inclusion / Talent Acquisition: support in driving both of these initiatives
> Support in Regulatory responses and Remediation efforts, including Regulatory, Senior Management and Board level updates#LI-SK1

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills:
> Ability to direct and drive senior stakeholders towards a common goal and high EQ
> Experience in all aspects of strategy, planning, execution, and delivery
> Confidence and comfort operating in high-paced and high-profile environments
> Expertise in senior-level presentation development and delivery (samples required)
> Senior understanding of enterprise organizational and behavioral dynamics
> Demonstrable track record of handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately
> Strong handle on operational and financial / accounting metrics
> Demonstrate prior experience and expertise with large scale organizational buildouts, remediations, high profile matters to senior management, Board and regulators
Preferred Skills:
> Financial Industry WM or U.S. Banks experience
> First Line Risk & Controls, Compliance or Audit experience
> Relevant professional certifications such as CPA, Series 7, 24, etc.
> Advanced degree in relevant field of study
> Working knowledge of privacy management tools and solutions
> Passionate about privacy and the protection of customers' personal information
> Privacy advocate and influencer among peers and partners
> Experience in supporting audit and regulatory inquiries and interactions with Board, senior management, consultants

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $235,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs. #LI-SK1
