Experienced Engineer – Non-Management and Management levels)  

Division: Environmental Water

PACE is seeking experienced Civil/Environmental Engineers with 5+ years of experience focused in the planning, design, and permitting of sustainable water resources; specifically relating to the treatment, conveyance, and storage of wastewater, recycled water, and potable water. The position will also require specific knowledge of engineering design to perform a variety of analyses. The ideal candidate has a degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering with focused study and experience in water resources/water engineering, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven problem-solving ability. The position requires the ability to work as both part of a team as well as self-directed.

 

Non-management level functions of this position may include:

 

1) Treatment process design

2) System modeling

3) Process calculations

4) Hydraulic calculations and design

5) Construction document preparation (specifications and drawings)

6) Technical writing, including interfacing with and integrating the work of others

7) Cost estimating

8) Field studies and site analysis

9) Research / pilot testing

10) Environmental permit application preparation and negotiation

11) Coordination with process vendors and contractors

12) Construction administration/support, including field site visits

13) Client and team member engagement

14) Support business development efforts, including proposal development

 

Additional management-level responsibilities may include:

 

1) Conduct and manage preparation of documentation, plans and reports.

2) Direct the activities of the assigned team to achieve the desired levels of performance and productivity both in terms of quantity produced and quality of work.

3) Supervise, coordinate and support engineers, drafters and other assigned project team members.

4) Review and develop weekly staffing assignments.

5) Monitor and control project scope, schedule and budget progress on a regular basis to ensure profitability and meet client expectations.

6) Track scope of work in agreement and prepare change orders as needed.

7) Support team members by providing proper guidance and training.

8) Ensure that the quality of all work produced is in excess of the minimum established guidelines.

9) Manage subconsultants work efforts and contracts.

10) Manage client relationships with regular communication on project needs and client expectations.

11) Participate in the development of proposals and business development efforts.

12) Participate in industry organizations, present at technical conferences and author technical publications.

13) Support employee recruiting needs and participate in hiring selection process.

 

This position requires a board knowledge of the civil engineering field along with specific knowledge of regulatory framework for projects in California, Arizona and those under US EPA federal regulation. The position will strategically apply sustainable design practices to a variety of water resources projects.

 

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or related engineering field with 5 – 10 years of

work experience, master’s degree a plus.

· Valid Project Engineer (PE) license (California preferred).

· University courses in water resources / water engineering such as water and wastewater treatment, hydraulics, US regulatory framework (SDWA, NPDES, CA Title 22, etc.) sustainability, etc.

· MS Office proficiency.

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

· Excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentations.

· Ability to work in a team environment and self-directed.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; color vision is very helpful. Occasional field work may be required and includes walking through uneven, rugged terrain, requiring good balance, ability to walk moderate to long distances, and good general vision and depth of field vision.

 

Work Environment

The noise level in the office work environment is moderate. May be required to work in external environment in all weather conditions. Driving to offsite locations for project meetings, job site visits, etc. may be required. Therefore, candidate must maintain reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and auto insurance while employed with PACE.

 

Salary

Competitive Salary commensurate with experience and capabilities. Salary range presented based on average needs and capabilities and competitive salaries at the time of posting. Salary offers may be higher or lower than posted based on position offered and associated responsibilities.
