Summary:
Develop a vision and strategy for Distribution excellence including standards of performance, continuous improvement, and safety.
Drive a continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization, starting with the Operations Leadership Team, Supervisors and all the way into the shop floor to the Warehouse Operators.
Identify cost savings opportunities by detecting waste and excessive cost, create and execute projects to improve operations productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establishes and maintains a robust safety culture within the Operations and Warehousing organization which results in safeguarding people, equipment, products, and facilities.
- Always ensures adherence to Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO procedures.
- Supports SHEQ on internal and external audits of all distribution sites.
- Use Lean tools, like 5's, Value Stream Maps (VSM) and Kaizen methodology to develop and implement improvements not only in the warehouse area but in operations as well, as it relates to gained throughput or optimized headcount.
- Facility design, system integration (WMS, WCS, YMS, TMS), standardizing operation processes, process innovation, and leading continuous improvement projects effectively utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and engineering methodologies.
- Identify financial opportunities in cost management, corrective invoice process, physical inventory, cost variances, improvement opportunities and risk in storage and handling costs in all areas of spend.
- Standardizing operations in owned facilities. This includes material handling/operations guidelines, storage/stacking SOP, as well as inventory/returns process.
- Support DC warehouse teams by ensure successful implementation, training and support of ERP systems, SOPs and all policies.
- Maintains the discipline across all warehouses conducive to clean and organized Distribution Centers that are always "tour ready".
- Identify opportunities for process automation, suggests and implements appropriate solutions.
- Monitors yard activity, trailer aging and avoid potential detention/demurrage charges.
- Oversees and improves an efficient process to schedule all inbound / outbound shipments through freight brokers and/or carriers.
- Maintains accurate finished goods inventory by item, lot, and location. Coordinates cycle counts and/or full physical inventory counts to confirm accuracy along with processing any necessary adjustments in the inventory system. This will include working with IT and Operations for streamlined processes and improvement of current WMS system.
- Ensure that continuous improvements initiatives results in a positive customer satisfaction experience or on-time delivery improvement.
- Build both internal and external relationships through supporting, networking, and teambuilding.

- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Travel to DC and 3PL warehousing sites and business offices on a routine basis.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- College degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics preferred or equivalent experience.
- 5 or more years work experience with a proven track record of working in a similar environment, preferably with public warehouses and/or 3PLs.
- Experienced in Lean Manufacturing critical. Knowledge of using Lean tools like 5's, Visual Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Maps and Daily Management.
- Six Sigma a plus
- D365 experience desirable.

- Good computer hardware and software skills especially Microsoft suite of products.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence
