The role, at a glance:

The Warehouse Material Lead acts as the subject matter expert for the material fulfillment processes of one or more production lines within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Accountable to several metrics and KPIs across multiple areas, they schedule and facilitate material support to meet daily customer demand as well as contribute to the overall capacity of the area. The Lead continuously works to improve the processes in their assigned areas.

How you'll contribute:

  • Deliver material to point of consumption in response to Kanban signals.
  • Plan and execute schedules based on variable demand and ergonomic requirements.
  • Train staff on processes within their assigned area.   
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and written work instructions.
  • Responsible for leading tiered Daily Management System (DMS) meetings.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives.   

You'll also support with:

  • Function as a team driver for lean manufacturing processes.
  • Solve problems and escalate obstacles where applicable.
  • Ensure work area is well organized and clean.
  • Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.    

A successful candidate should have:

  • Internal candidates must be at least a Material Handler Operator II.
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience with a preference for experience in electrical and mechanical manufacturing. Entry into this level is based on management’s judgment of skills and abilities.
  • Prior leadership experience a plus
  • Must be able to work Monday through Thursday from 5:00am to 3:30pm.
  • Capable of becoming forklift and WAV certified at Biamp.
  • Training in and experience with Lean manufacturing principles is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and Windows based applications.
  • Ability to adjust work pace and operator schedules in response to daily production data.
  • Desire and ability to find and solve problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods.    
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals.
  • Attendance is a critical function of this position.  

Work environment:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. periodically.
  • Stand or sit for long periods.
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending.
  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels.
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills.
  • Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts.
  • Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas.
