Key Accountabilities
- Developing and implementing strategies to promote Federal public policy positions to benefit National Grid - work closely with senior management, business unit heads and their designees to identify and assess issues of importance to Massachusetts and New York customers, employees, and shareholders and to identify public policy objectives for key issues.
- Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with Members of Congress and Congressional staff - Congressional delegations in Massachusetts, New York as well as House and Senate leadership, Republican and Democrat.
- Managing consultants and lobbyists to promote the company’s political and public policy goals.
- Internally, interacting with and advise senior leadership on policy issues as both a technical expert and knowledgeable business professional; also interact with other National Grid executives and key leaders both during regular business and to assist in leadership development activities.
About You
- A minimum of 15 years experience with successive management and leadership responsibilities in a highly regulated industry or in government overseeing highly regulated sectors for a period. Energy related experience will be considered but not necessary.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Integrated advocacy and campaigns, stakeholder landscape, process and systems of legislative and regulatory interactions, politics, and the complex corporate and policy issues
- A basic understanding of the electric and gas energy industry and key public policy issues affecting the industry and the interplay of those issues across the broad political and policy landscape.
- Experience in building, leading, and developing teams, preferably inside a global and matrixed organization.
