Keshet’s local leadership, comprised of nearly 150 lay leaders from all walks of life, provide the inspiration, direction, and funding required to fulfill the organization’s mission: to do whatever is necessary to allow individuals with disabilities to achieve their potential.
Keshet Programs
Keshet is a one-of-a-kind organization that brings classroom experiences, camps, sports, social and vocational activities, and residential opportunities to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities each year.
Keshet provides highly individualized and inclusive education programs at five sites throughout Chicago and the north shore from preschool through age 22. We believe in maximizing each student’s potential while fostering caring communities in which students learn and grow. Therefore, we maintain a dual focus on developing students’ academic and daily living skills while also integrating them into their home community.
With Keshet support, kids, teens and young adults thrive at day and overnight camps. Whether learning a new swim stroke or participating in a talent show, camp provides the ideal setting for campers to continue growing, learning, socializing and, of course, having fun. Keshet sets the stage for creating lifelong memories and friendships and provides fully inclusive camp programs, where campers can learn and participate alongside their peers.
Keshet’s Adult Community Day and Residential Services is designed to support and promote choice, independence, employment and meaningful days for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Community-based programming is paramount and activities include
Keshet, a balance of vocational/life skills training with the opportunity for socialization, recreation, and physical exercise to further increase participants overall quality of life.
