POSITION SUMMARY

This is a unique opportunity for a self-starter and visionary to partner with the development team and Executive Director to establish the foundation for a viable and sustainable volunteer management program at PADS Lake County. PADS has an opportunity to activate over 3,000 underutilized volunteers by facilitating ongoing engagement opportunities with PADS and its clients.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the in-kind contributions provided to PADS Lake County. This includes both volunteer work and donated goods. The person in this position will identify and connect community members to service opportunities, ensuring volunteers are qualified and trained as needed. Ultimately the main responsibility for the person in this position is to develop, build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with volunteers.

In addition to manage volunteers who donate time, working with individuals who donate goods is also a key responsibility for the person in this role. The Coordinator will identify goods that are needed and work with the community to have those goods donated. The person in this role must maintain good relationships with donors and connect the spirit of giving in the community to the outstanding needs exhibited by the clients served by PADS Lake County.

All goods and services donated will be tracked and efforts will be made to grow the programs to provide additional assistance from volunteers to further PADS mission and additional goods to support the well-being of the clients served by PADS Lake County.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer time

  • Work with PADS Program and operations teams to identify volunteer opportunities for community members, describe these opportunities, and provide parameters for the various duties (expected number of hours, safety equipment needed, etc.)
  • Develop a volunteer on-boarding and training program
  • Work with PADS resource team to publicize these opportunities and recruit community members to the cause.
  • Utilize software to track volunteer activities
  • Recruit volunteers, as needed, for specific projects that support PADS mission.
  • Support volunteer groups in their effort contribute time/labor to PADS work.
  • Complete volunteer appreciation efforts

Donated goods

  • Work with PADS Program and operations teams to identify program needs in terms of goods/supplies
  • Work with PADS resource team to publicize these needed goods/supplies
  • Work with PADS teams to transport donated goods to sites as appropriate
  • Maintain an inventory of items received and distributed
  • Meet with donors when possible to cultivate strong donor relations
  • Utilize software to track donation activities
  • Work with programs team to manage the storage and distribution of donated goods

Other duties

  • Individuals in this role attend ‘all staff’ meetings and other relevant meetings both virtually and in the community to promote PADS mission
  • Attending ‘tabling’ activities in the community, as needed, to promote PADS work and educate the public about PADS mission.
  • Participate in regular supervision sessions with management to develop work as a professional
  • Attend trainings on best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • 5+ years of non-profit experience
  • 1+ year of volunteer management preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect attention to detail.
  • Strong oral communication skills; pleasant telephone presence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize daily workload and strong time management skills; handles matters expeditiously and proactively, and follows through on projects to completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, personable and experience interacting effectively with staff members at all levels and Board members.

Hours and Working Conditions

· Part-time hybrid position with some on-site work needed at PADS Waukegan facility.

· Employee must be able to lift 25 pounds

· $25/hour pay rate.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

  • Waukegan, IL 60085: Relocate before starting work (Required)
