A Volunteer Coordinator, operating within the framework of the mission and philosophy of Accord Hospice, provides sufficient volunteers to meet the needs of patients, families and employees, according to Medicare regulations. Following the interdisciplinary team plan of care, coordinates volunteers to serve the patients, family members and employees while being mindful of the confidentiality rights of all. Collaborates and communicates with the case manager and other interdisciplinary team members. Participates actively in meeting the goals and objectives of the hospice organization. Ensures documentation of all volunteer activities within the organization. Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to his/her own professional growth.
Job Roles and Expectations:
- Volunteer Coordinator will devise and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to
ensure the fulfillment of patients’, families’, and employees’ needs in a timely manner.
- He/she will represent Accord Hospice and its volunteer program positively
throughout the community in education, outreach and volunteer recruitment programs.
- Coordinator will respond to all inquiries from volunteers and other organizations in a
timely manner.
- He/she will conduct face to face interview with all potential volunteers.
- Volunteer Coordinator will perform screening/background checks for all volunteers in
accordance with Federal, State and Accord Hospice regulations.
- Coordinator will attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and adheres to
the plan of care to meet identified needs.
- Coordinator will assign volunteers, while considering interests and skills to
patients/family/staff and program needs.
- Volunteer Coordinator will observe/evaluate volunteers and their interactions with
patients/families/staff on a yearly basis.
- He/she will administer annual volunteer comprehension and Alzheimer’s evaluation.
- He/she will maintain current volunteer personnel and medical files in accordance with
Federal, State and Accord Hospice regulations.
- Coordinator will maintain regular contact and open communication with all volunteers.
- Volunteer Coordinator will schedule volunteers to ensure a minimum of 5% of paid
employee patient contact hours are provided by volunteers on a monthly basis, as
mandated by Medicare, and provide this information on a monthly basis to Corporate
Volunteer Coordinator.
- He/she will submit monthly volunteer mileage reimbursement requests to Corporate
Volunteer Coordinator.
- Volunteer Coordinator will ensure completion of Patient/Family Satisfaction Surveys as
assigned by Corporate Volunteer Coordinator.
- He/she will participate in monthly QAPI meetings to provide Volunteer Department and
Patient/Family Satisfaction Survey information.
- Volunteer Coordinator will inform volunteers of, and participate in hospice in-service
trainings as provided.
- Coordinator will organize annual Volunteer Appreciation event.
- Volunteer Coordinator will perform other duties as assigned.

Hours Worked
- Hours worked are based on the assigned patients’/caregivers’ needs.
- On Call duties for weekday evenings and nights and weekend days, evenings, and
nights are based on the necessity of an assigned volunteer to reach you in an
emergency.
- Occasional weekend work may be necessary for community
outreach/education/recruitment events.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- College Degree preferred.
License
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and current automobile insurance.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
