Gateway Domestic Violence Services is searching for an enthusiastic Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator!

Since 1979, Gateway has provided safe shelter and caring, comprehensive services to adults, their children and their pets fleeing domestic violence in the City of Aurora and Arapahoe County. Our programming includes a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency and extended stay care shelter, non-residential licensed counseling, and court advocacy.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the supervision of the Director of Development, this position will be responsible for developing a multi-faceted volunteer program, including establishing processes and procedures, developing volunteer opportunities, recruiting, screening, and training new individual volunteers, and managing volunteer operations. Additionally, this person will support the Development Team in establishing community partnerships, and developing and executing events that will strengthen Gateway's fundraising efforts and volunteer programs. As the Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator, you will support our organization's mission and ensure our appreciation is communicated to those who choose to aid us.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Establish best practices and procedures for Gateway's volunteer program including but not limited to training, recruitment, supervision and operating procedures.
Identify volunteer opportunities in partnership with program directors; coordinate and oversee both group and individual projects.
Manage volunteer database including tracking volunteer information, availability, skills, and hours.
Manage ongoing communication with and stewardship of all volunteers.
Coordinate and participate in training programs for both direct service and administrative volunteers, including on the job learning.
Manage and participate in community outreach events to share information about Gateway's services, events and volunteer opportunities
Manage in-kind donations and drives.
Support the Development team in all aspects of Special Events including outreach, research, planning and execution.
Manage all aspects of several smaller community engagement events throughout the year to increase awareness and engagement.
Assist in marketing related to the events including flyer/invitation creation, newsletter story development and social media posts.
Develop relationships with community members, supporters and internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and implement operating procedures to uphold Gateway's values.
Represent the organization and the mission professionally and with passion.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in related field preferred, but related work experience will be considered.
Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence helpful.
Experience in volunteer management or related experience strongly preferred.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING
Expected hourly salary of $21.50. This is a full-time role, anticipated to work 40 hours per week.
