Position:Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Purpose: Sales leadership across the breadth of Applied Control’s customer base, encompassing the following geographical territory: Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Western Nebraska, and Western South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Alaska.

  • A partner to the business unit leaders to deliver the profitable growth as set forth in the annual business unit plans.
  • A strong developer of talent this leader will develop the existing sales team and build upon what exists in growing the team. This individual will be successful at articulating expectations, delivering accountability while motivating and supporting the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and deploys sales strategy to deliver the annual business unit plans and targeted sales goals and KPI’s. Work with the Applied Control Final Control and Automation teams to ensure inclusion of their key initiatives within account plans and project pursuits strategies.
  • Leads a team of outside sales individuals effectively through regular cadence that is timely and productive, including project meetings, performance assessments, coaching and mentoring. Reviews strategic account plans and facilitates creative approaches to market expansion utilizing the solution selling approach.
  • Oversees Sales and Marketing strategies for the company, including the account planning process, trade shows, and other industry related events to ensure long term robust sales results.
  • Utilizes CRM and leverages market demand generation.
  • Maintain productive relationships with key Emerson Automation Solutions Sales and management personnel through timely responses to requests and support of key initiatives. Participate in the preparation and presentation of annual Emerson Growth Reviews as required. Lead Applied Control’s participation in Emerson key account/marquee meetings/discussions as required.
  • Develop and cultivate sales training programs to equip new sales team members in learning our products, approaches, customer segment and selling approaches.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Four-year college technical degree preferred. MBA desired.
  • Previous industrial and technical sales experience required; previous technical sales management experience required.
  • Practical work or sales experience with automation, measurement, and control products/systems in process control markets, including Oil and Gas, Power, Refining, Mining and Food & Beverage, preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, and employee motivation techniques.
  • Self-motivated and a demonstrated ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and building a sales organization.
  • Serves as a role model of integrity and business leadership.

Working Conditions:

  • Overnight travel is required and may include driving up to 5 hours per day. Regular carrying of a laptop computer is required. Occasionally carrying demonstration equipment may also be required.
  • Participation in safety training and random drug testing is required. Wearing personal protective equipment may be required for some customer site visits.
  • Executive level schedule that accommodates for business and customer needs.

Based in the Englewood CO office.

Base Salary $140,000 to $200,000 depending upon experience. This job is eligible for participation in the Profit Sharing program.
