WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Vice President of USHSE Center of Innovation for our Denver, Colorado office. Surrounding WSP offices will be considered.
The Senior Vice President of US Health Safety & Environment Center of Innovationis a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's health and safety programs and strategies and innovations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, promoting a culture of caring and minimizing health and safety risks across the organization. The Senior Vice President provides leadership, guidance, and expertise in all matters related to health and safety.
Your Impact
Health and Safety Strategy
- Develop, lead, and execute the organization's health and safety strategy, aligning it with business goals and industry best practices.
- Establish and communicate health and safety policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Manage a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective program implementation.
- Stay updated on relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and represent the organization in regulatory matters.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate health and safety risks across all aspects of the organization, including physical workplaces, equipment, processes, and employee behaviors.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to ensure employees are informed and equipped to adhere to safety protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and initiatives.
- Establish protocols for responding to accidents, injuries, and safety incidents. Conduct thorough investigations to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans.
- Specialist in accident/injury case management
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring employees are prepared for emergencies and natural disasters.
- Monitor and analyze health and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Evaluate the safety performance of suppliers and contractors and ensure they adhere to safety standards when working with the organization.
- Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters. Foster partnerships with internal and external organizations to exchange best practices.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 15+ years’ experience in health and safety management, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Focus on employee health and wellbeing
- Experience in Construction, Consulting, PM/CM, Design, Major Programs, Environment and At Risk Work
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in health and safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).

Compensation
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $185,000- $245,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
