The VP of the HCO Division is a member of the AORN Executive Team and will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the HCO division. This position will create and manage the HCO strategic plan and focus on increasing sales from $13.2M in 2023 to $20.0M by 2028. The VP will be a visionary for the HCO division through their leadership and mentorship of a strong sales team and their collaboration with third party distributors. The individual will be innovative and effective in working with internal staff to develop new and enhanced products and services. The VP will collaborate and develop strategic alliances with HCO facilities to understand their challenges and needs to build awareness of how AORN can provide solutions for perioperative nurses. The VP of the HCO Division will ensure an integrated and effective approach to sales and marketing for facilities-focused products and services; ensuring that the financial goals for HCO are met.


AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our VP of the HCO Division will work remotely.


More about what you’ll get to do as our VP of the HCO Division:

  • Responsible for creating a strategic plan that grows HCO revenues year over year.
  • Develops and manages the annual business plan for the HCO sales teams, providing direction, guidance, and mentorship to the team.
  • Monitors competition for AORN’s HCO products and services and develops proactive strategies to ensure AORN maintains the top position in the market.
  • Continuously improves HCO operations by automating business processes to efficiently accommodate large multi-site customers and systems.
  • Works with AORN’s Nursing Education & Marketing departments to identify new HCO products and to enhance and improve current products.
  • Monitors sales reports in Salesforce and other HCO dashboards to ensure that the sales teams are achieving their goals.
  • Manages the Director of HCO and provide leadership and mentorship to the HCO Division.
  • Manages and strengthens existing third-party relationships and identifies and develops new relationships that can increase AORN’s HCO revenues and positively impact AORN’s bottom line.
  • Evaluates the department’s infrastructure for overall effectiveness, efficiency, and impact on achieving the annual business plan, adjusting the structure as needed.
  • Assesses current pricing models, evaluating possible alternatives and the impact on the business model.
  • Implements changes that have potential to increase revenues through market expansion.
  • Oversees the sales of products to HCO and develops strategies and techniques necessary for attaining revenue targets and building a strong sales pipeline.
  • Builds relationships and manages the delivery of a consultative sales process with stakeholders consistent with future business strategies.
  • Ensures that customer satisfaction and feedback mechanisms are in place, operational, and improved upon based on customer feedback.
  • Performs ongoing evaluation of the current portfolio of products/solutions, identifying unmet needs and recommends sunsetting opportunities for current products as needed.
  • Serves on the Executive team to provide strategic direction to the organization.
  • Participates in the leadership and governance for the association.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must Have’s to be our VP of the HCO Division:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, marketing, healthcare, or related field.
  • 12+ years of business development experience with current knowledge of healthcare trends related to technology, political arena, regulatory changes, reimbursement, and demographics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience including leading and overseeing a sales/business development function.
  • Prior experience working in sales to hospital/healthcare systems and/or the medical device and/or surgical services industry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in health science, nursing, or related field or an MBA.
  • Experience managing third-party distributor relationships.
  • Experience using a sales CRM, preferably Salesforce.com, to create efficiencies and drive sales growth and collaboration across sales teams.

  • Strong business acumen with a documented ability to provide new ideas for product development purposes.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills to executive level and quantitative abilities (requires proficient use of MS Excel, experience developing business plans, metrics, and dashboard reports, etc.).
  • Ability to develop sales team budgets, set effective sales targets, and create sales strategies to achieve business goals.
  • Ability to work cross functionally to gain consensus from multiple stakeholders and ability to lead major change efforts requiring cross functional leadership collaboration.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate and hold others accountable for organizational values of: Innovation, Communication, Quality, Diversity, Equity and inclusion, and Achievement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Remote work environment, using a computer, telephone and other office equipment daily. Attendance at scheduled meetings as required. Ability to travel as needed to support business development and Association functions. Expected travel of 10-20%.
