VICE PRESIDENT OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President of Government & Community Affairs will report to the Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Counsel and develop strategy and manage Government Affairs and community engagement. This role can sit in Charleston, WV, Pittsburgh, PA, Harrisburg, PA, or Washington, D.C.
Special focus will be placed on:
- Develop strategy and priorities on a State-by-State and Federal basis, based on industry and Company needs
- Track the advancement of Federal legislation and State legislation in operational States to determine if there is a potential impact on the Company's policies, programs, or operations
- Develop and promote legislation to support the Company's strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with and mobilize State and local industry support groups, associations, trade partners, and others to support legislative agendas
- Develop and maintain frequent and ongoing, positive relationships with legislators, regulators, and other officials, regardless of political affiliation
- Conduct quarterly meetings with functional Company department heads to determine areas of interest from a policy perspective
- Advocate lobbying on behalf of Company before the State legislatures on existing and proposed legislation that has an impact on the Company, including witness support or witnessing, as necessary
- Manage external Government Affairs consultants
- Manage regulatory update process – informing Company personnel of pending and final changes in regulations and new laws
- Work with operational departments to aggregate and submit comments and feedback on proposed rules
- Sit in leadership positions on multiple industry association boards and coordinate Company’s industry association memberships and initiatives
- Conduct Legislative and Congressional meetings in Washington D.C. and State capitols
- Provide monthly briefings to senior management on high-level projects, strategy, and results
- Manage Company's Political Action Committee
- Manage community affairs program and personnel, including community giving and engagement efforts
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 7+ years of senior government relations experience, including in multiple states and/or Washington D.C.
- A plus, but not requirement –
- Energy background
- Managing employees and outside consultants
- Managing a budget
- Frequent overnight travel is required (up to 25% of the time), including State capitols and Washington D.C.
- Self-starter, outgoing, well-connected
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills
- Perform well under pressure
