SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Vice President and Chief Learning Officer is responsible for formulating the strategy to drive system-wide learning direction, goals, and policies. This role will plan, design, and implement the overall strategy of learning and development programs, and will possess up-to-date knowledge of best practices in organizational learning and a strong understanding of business practices alongside leadership ability. This individual will lead the team that has responsibility to drive employee learning for programs delivered by human resources, clinical teams, and technology areas, as well as design and build the learning function for the future.
In coordination with the Dean and Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, this will be done through an accessible, “learn anywhere,” prescriptive and micro-learning framework utilizing responsive e-learning, responsive LMSs, and learning apps, all of which support multi-device access. Learning initiatives will all be conducted while ensuring the mobile experience is seamless.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Promotes and demonstrates the PSH Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Identifies key organizational capability requirements and integrates them into short and long-term learning strategies that are aligned with overall organizational strategies.
- Ensures regulation and governance of all learning programs and initiatives by leading and overseeing the design of all learning infrastructure and ensuring the vision of learning is communicated effectively across the organization.
- Develops the budget for learning programs and initiatives and leads cost-benefit analyses of programs and initiatives. Collaborates with the executive team on developing learning strategies and liaises with them as well as senior management on the progression of L&D across the organization.
- Collaborates with functional areas to develop ways for operations to support learning and Leadership Development, as well as collaborates with organizational development teams on how learning can support change and performance management, as well as achieve business goals.
- Directs the implementation of technology to support learning throughout the organization. Works with IT leadership to select appropriate tools that support learning for the health system.
- Supports the identification of leadership potential within the organization and collaborates with the organizational development and HR strategy teams and leaders on succession planning development.
- Manages the learning team, overseeing the allocation of work and performance against goals. Provides feedback, coaching, and mentoring, drives employee development, and performs additional people management activities. Works with the Talent Acquisition team on hiring efforts.
- Oversees PSH Leadership Development programs including curriculum planning and content, nomination process, strategy, delivery/facilitation, success tracking, and associated event planning. Create new programs to support business strategy.
- Drives strategy, use, training, structure, and contract management associated with PSH’s LMS programs across all areas of PSH.
- Oversees relevant contracts associated with PSH learning tools, programs, and resources. Guides and facilitates faculty in the effective integration of technology in courses/clerkships for the delivery of the curriculum (related to educational support and development, not technical training).
- Evaluates the current instructional approaches related to technology and research and evaluate emerging technologies for recommendations for use within the curriculum. Supports the culture of teaching excellence and educational scholarship through the dissemination of pedagogical information and methods specifically related to technology applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Educational Leadership or related field required.
- Ten (10) years of experience in progressively senior learning and development roles or a related field required.
- Seven (7) years of management experience required.
- Extensive experience in learning and development program design and implementation required.
- Experience with learning management systems required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Certification in HR and/or adult education preferred.
