POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are searching for a Vehicle Systems Engineer. This position is a core member of the technical team integrating cutting-edge powertrain electronics, FCEV/EV architecture, and Vehicle Systems as well as performing electronics integration, testing, and validation. Learning and applying the latest technology is critical for this position. The Vehicle team is focused on integrating the latest technologies that will set Hyzon Motors vehicles apart from our competitors. This individual will utilize their technical skill set, attention to detail, and quality focus to bring these technologies from the concept phase all the way into production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, release and maintain Vehicle System Requirements and Specifications for vehicle level and assigned subsystems/components for global fuel cell products
- Develop and enhance the electrical system architecture for new and existing systems based on platform requirements, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Execute application analysis to confirm “Customer Requirements” using spreadsheets or in-house performance analysis software.
- Interpret and assist in development of requirements from software models/specifications, using Model Based Systems Engineering principles.
- Perform design analysis on components, Vehicle Systems and architectures to verify new requirements that can be achieved. This can include investigating Hardware I/O, network architecture, wire harnesses, controller software, and mechanical subsystems.
- Participate in design reviews, safety analyses and assist in DFMEAs.
- Support controls integration and calibration for systems and vehicles in development
- Define and verify vehicle and sub-system validation testing in a closed loop process
- Develop roadmaps for homologation and certification in NA, EU and ANZ regions
- Support customer and vehicle testing by trouble-shooting electrical systems as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with Controls experience
- Master’s degree in above relevant fields is preferred
- 5 plus years relevant product development experience
- Demonstrated technical leadership and organization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electric/Hybrid Vehicle development experience
- Experience with JAMA highly desirable
- Good working knowledge of electronic components and communication protocols (CAN, J1939, Ethernet)
- Experience using Vector CAN tools including CANalyzer
- Experience with Model Based Embedded System design, using Mathworks® MATLAB/Simulink® and Stateflow®, and other relevant development design tools
- Knowledge of functional safety and electrical safety standards (e.g., ISO26262)
- General understanding of Cyber Security R155/156 regulations and impact on vehicle controls and software
- Previous experience with engineering quality processes (Six Sigma, 8D, CPK, Ishikawa, Kepner-Tregoe, and Safety engineering / DFMEA is preferred.
