About You and this Role
Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Valve Technician in Freeport, Texas.
This position is within the IEA department and provides Automated and Control Valve support equipment across all of the Texas Operations plants.
As a Valve Shop Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair oversight of various types of Automated and Control valves used in Dow processes. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of Plant operations.
Responsibilities
Valve Inspection and Testing:

  • Perform thorough inspections of valves to identify wear, damage, or malfunction.
  • Conduct testing procedures to ensure valves meet Dow and industry standards/specifications.
  • Document and report findings, recommending necessary repairs or replacements.

Valve Maintenance and Repair:
  • Execute maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of valves.
  • Oversight on overhaul and repaired valves. Proving Technical Support on replacing worn or defective parts to restore optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and address complex valve-related issues.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of valve inspections, tests, and repairs.
  • Generate comprehensive reports for clients, outlining the condition of valves and recommended actions.
  • Keep accurate inventory records of valve components and replacements.

Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that all valve maintenance and repair activities comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement quality control measures to guarantee the reliability and longevity of repaired valves.

Customer Interaction:
  • Communicate with clients to understand their specific valve-related requirements and concerns.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to clients on valve performance improvement.

Requirements
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 Years of Valve experience in an industrial industry.
  • Proven experience in valve inspection, maintenance, and repair within an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with a variety of valve types, including control valves, Automated valves, and Motor Operated valves.
  • Must have a current, valid US driver's license.
  • Strong safety focus. Consistently have zero injuries and actively support safety policies and initiatives.
  • Must be willing to make call outs and work overtime per department needs.
  • Travel may consist of trips between departments and plants within the Gulf Coast Region (Texas and Louisiana).
  • Department work start time is 7:00am.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with valve repair tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to valve maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, engineers, and team members.
  • Ability to create clear and concise technical reports.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of the API 598, FCI-70 and API 6D.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Relevant certifications in valve inspection and maintenance are a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be willing and able to do the following with or without an accommodation.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes with or without an accommodation.
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
