Job Summary
The Tribal Cultural Collections Manager is responsible for managing NAGPRA compliance efforts at CSU, Long Beach, coordinating repatriation with the Human ID Lab and Tribes. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for managing and coordinating donation requests and communication, maintaining inventory and access processes for collections for Tribes, collaborating with campus and Tribal partners to provide access to collections.
Key Responsibilities
- NAGPRA and Cal-NAGPRA Compliance Management - Serve as the primary point of contact for all NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA inquiries seeking information about Native American remains and objects falling under NAGPRA regulations.
- Tribal Services and Education - Work with the Office of Tribal Relations, Tribes, library archives and Anthropology Museum to appropriately identify, label and care for cultural items (of different mediums) currently in the university’s possession and future educational collections.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Native American Studies, History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
Experience working with culturally sensitive artifacts, archaeological methods and archaeological collections required.
One year of working experience in curatorial work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Two years of full-time progressively responsible experience in program management in an educational environment is preferred.

Compensation
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,210 - $5,417 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range: The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $5,210 - $7,815 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
