Job Description
1.0 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have experience in all phases of transportation including: hiring, training, and evaluating drivers.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years managing transportation, or equivalent education or experience.
- Must understand the concepts required to efficiently manage the routing and delivery of our products.
- Must be able to lead a large group of people in a positive direction.
2.0 BASIC FUNCTION
- Responsible for managing the transportation operations at BTC.
- Hire, train, and supervise transportation employees and manage scheduling of drivers, routes, and shipments to customers.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of supply chain and warehouse operations.
- Experience preparing and tracking trucks and shipments.
- Familiarity with warehouse and logistics software.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and train staff.
- Problem-solving abilities.
4.0 AUTHORITY
- The Transportation manager has sufficient authority to successfully complete duties, responsibilities, and objectives that are assigned.
5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee transportation department including assets and employees
- Supervise scheduling of drivers, trucks, routes, and shipments.
- Manage performance of employees with emphasis on safety, DOT and HOS compliance, customer service and delivery efficiency.
- Lead and coordinate distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities.
- Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, and mentor delivery drivers.
- Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement and customer service objectives.
