Salary- Responsible for monitoring the academic progress of assigned sports and providing academic counseling and support services as needed
- Meet regularly with assigned caseload
- Report academic progress to coaches and sport administrators
- Check classes for attendance
- Assist in tracking student-athletes’ compliance with NCAA academic eligibility requirements and progress towards Vanderbilt University undergraduate degree requirements
- Help student-athletes learn time management skills to assist in balancing the demands of academics and athletics
- Serve as a sounding board for student-athletes to help them deal with issues surrounding the transition from home life to college
- Meet with prospective student-athletes and their families as requested
- Alert professors and/or deans to absences due to university-sanctioned travel to athletic events, medical procedures or illnesses, deaths in the family or other extenuating circumstances that may constitute a missed class
- Meet with professors, advisors and/or deans as requested
- Serve as a resource to professors if problems arise regarding a student-athlete in which they would like our assistance
- Refer student-athletes to appropriate campus resources as needed.
- Collect and report academic data as needed (e.g., SEC for Academic Honor Roll, Vice Chancellor/Athletics Director, Provost’s Office, Board of Trust, etc.)
- Monitor evening study halls as assigned
- Seek intentional professional development opportunities for continued growth
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director for Student Services or Athletics Senior Management team
- Serve as a role model for student-athletes in terms of upholding integrity, cooperation, self-reflection and stressing the importance and benefits of education
- Work in a cooperative, team atmosphere to support student-athletes’ needs
- Comply with all NCAA and SEC rules and regulations
- Work in conjunction with the department’s compliance office to stay current on all rules and regulations to ensure we are operating with the highest level of integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required .
- Master’s Degree is preferred . 1-2 years experience within football academics at an NCAA Division I athletics program is preferred .
