The University of Texas at Austin is seeking to hire a Senior Training Coordinator to build a robust employee Training and Development program for the Department of Planning, Design, and Construction.

Purpose
Oversees PDC's employee Training and staff developmental programs. Development, management, tracking, and coordination of education sessions and programs for Training and enhancing competencies of our team members. Experience managing similar program in a project management and project delivery office a plus.
Responsibilities
  • In coordination with Directors, ADs, and Team Leads, design and develop interactive training programs (outsourced or in-house) for PDC departments/divisions processes, HR/Administrative training, compliance training, etc. Select the best training methods or activities for a particular purpose and audience (e.g. role-playing, mentoring, on the job training, professional development classes, etc.)
  • Develop and manage annual training plan to meet departmental needs. Serve as primary point of contact for training matters for department/division staff and for submissions of training request forms. Administer UTLearn data entry, training plans, and training tracking and KPIs. Proactively seeks ways to improve the processes and efficient use of funds.
  • Serve as primary contact with external vendors and internal subject matter experts needed to conduct training for PDC purposes such as continuing education, professional development, licensure certification, equipment operation, and safety. Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions for in-house experts/trainers. Oversee and maintain in-house training facilities and necessary equipment.
  • Support department staff through identification, documentation, execution and reporting of Training and certifications. With assistance from the Administrative Associate, ensure all training transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner, including Training and conference registrations, licensure payments, continuing education for licensure, travel authorizations, travel arrangements and reimbursements. Responsibly coordinate Procurement Card for training related payments.
  • Assists the Associate Director in conducting whole-organization needs assessments, identifying skills or knowledge gaps that need addressing. Uphold best practices and departmental education principles for training. Track new training methods and techniques to apply to current situations as well as lessons learned sessions.
  • Supports training needs for employee on-boarding and off-boarding in coordination with the Admin Team, Associate Directors, and Team Leads as needed. Coordinates with Admin Team on expectations for logistics and calendar invites, as well as collects feedback and lessons learned from trainings and trainees.

Required Qualifications
BS degree in training, HR, education, business or related field. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Significant work experience as a trainer, training facilitator, or organizing multiple training events, preferably in a project management and project delivery organization. Strong working knowledge of instructional design theory as well as proof of successful implementation. Strong knowledge of learning management systems. Proven track record, showing the ability to successfully complete the full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate). Knowledgeable about both traditional and modern job training methods and techniques. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency. Familiarity with trainings/staff development tracking software. Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with University rules, policies, and procedures regarding purchasing and travel. Experience with university systems, including Workday, OPUS (Oracle Unifier), FAMIS. Familiarity with project management and project delivery staff training, certifications, and licensing requirements in the State of Texas for such code, governing entities, etc. as OSHA, ICC< APPA, PMP, TDLR, TAS, AIA, TBAE, and others. Expert level experience with MS Office. Have a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with management, administrators, and the public, as well as commitment to service excellence.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$80,000 + depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
