About the position:
The Development Services Coordinator facilitates and coordinates development projects within our municipalities. This position requires a blend of administrative, communication, and organizational skills to ensure smooth operations and compliance with municipal regulations. The coordinator acts as a liaison between developers, contractors, government agencies, and others to streamline the development process and foster community growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Coordination:
- Manage and coordinate development projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to municipal guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers to obtain necessary reviews, comments, and approvals.
- Track project progress, deadlines, and fees to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Permitting and Compliance:
- Review permit, plan, and plat applications to ensure correct application is being submitted, fee calculations are correct, and required supporting document has been provided and is sufficient.
- Provide guidance and assistance to applicants regarding permit procedures, requirements, and documentation.
- Coordinate site inspections as required.
Community Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for residents, developers, and community organizations seeking information on development projects and processes.
- Assist with the preparation of agenda items for City Council and Planning and Zoning.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of development applications, permits, approvals, and related correspondence.
- Utilize municipal software systems and databases to manage and track effectively.
Policy Implementation:
- Be knowledgeable of municipal development policies, procedures, and ordinances.
- Maintain knowledge of changes in regulations, codes, and practices to ensure compliance.
- Provide updates and revisions to development-related regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in municipal planning, Development Services, or a related field.
- Familiarity with permit applications and requirements is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in online municipal permit portals.
- Strong attention to detail and research skills.
