Traffic Engineer

PRIME AE Group, Inc. (www.primeeng.com), a multi-faceted and rapidly growing architectural and engineering firm with 20 office locations and over 475 employees throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Northeast areas, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Traffic Engineer work remotely or in one of our Transportation offices (Baltimore, Columbus, Jacksonville, Tampa, Lexington, Harrisburg, Fairfax, or Richmond).

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role will be to perform Traffic Engineering design for our diverse clientele which includes MDOT SHA, MDTA, DDOT, VDOT and various jurisdictions in Virginia.

Primary Responsibilities:

Traffic Studies:

• Perform Crash analysis and safety studies.
• Perform Corridor and intersection analysis.
• Develop traffic signal timing and phasing.
• Conduct traffic signal warrant studies and roundabout analysis.
• Perform capacity analysis and congestion mitigation.
• Perform queueing analysis.
• Assist with developer plan review and traffic impact analysis review.
• Develop maintenance of traffic alternatives analysis.
• Perform computer software modeling and simulation.
• Prepare Traffic Engineering Reports.

Traffic Design:

• Conduct traffic control device inventory and design.
• Design work zone traffic control.
• Assist with development of improvement concepts.
• Develop project deliverables including plans, specifications and cost estimates.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.
• EIT certification is required. PE licensure and PTOE certification are preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in Traffic Engineering in a professional setting.
• EIT required; PE preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Ability to analyze complex traffic issues and alternates and prepare cogent recommendations.
• Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signing, pavement markings, traffic signals and temporary traffic control devices.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and ADA regulations.
• Experience working on Traffic Engineering projects for Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT – SHA) preferred.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills preferred.
• Proficieny in the use of traffic modeling including Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM, and HCS preferred.
