Must be flexible to work second shift. The first few months will be on days (5 am to 2:30 pm) while training and then move to night shift (2:30 pm to 12 am). Tool Room Technologist Job Duties
Select tool holders for the CNC machine and tooling for the holders
Identify inserts, tools, tool holder and tool assemblies
Select relevant tooling as needed for operation
Setup cutting tools in appropriate holder
Identify wear of tooling
Assemble tooling and set the gauge length
Collect correct inserts and make tool assembly
Package required inserts/tool assembly per CNC program requirements
Maintain and organize tool kits
Read drawings from manufacturer
Maintain inventory
Order items to maintain inventory levels
Adjust inventory levels based on reports
Order items from shortage reports
Develop a 2D drawing or 3D model for requested tools
Read drawings and identify position of tooling relative to machine
Understand the operation to be performed on the machine
Ope*** the computer and software to create a tool model
Simulate the tool operation for assigned machine
Cross-trained in other departments to support production needs. Experience and Knowledge Requirements

Tool database, such as TDM, to obtain tool/insert information, such as tool geometries
Knowledge of Windows and Office 365 programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint Previous Experience and Competencies
Associates Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Science, Computing, Mathematics or other relevant technical discipline.
Candidates without a degree having a minimum of 3 years hands-on tooling or machining experience may be considered.
Candidate must be able to demonst*** good organizational abilities, technical competency in their previous job roles and good interpersonal skills.
Candidate should also have knowledge of manufacturing processes and an understanding of ERP software systems. In client , candidates must have competency using SAP or MfgPro, GEMS, InTouch and Quest.
note : The hiring manager is requesting candidates submitted have experience working with CNC Mill tooling. Presetting tools for use at CNC machines is the type of experience they are looking for. They really are not seeing this with the candidates being submitted. A CNC Technician will often have that type of experience (but not always).
