General Description:
The Mold Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining molds, machinery, and equipment in a safe manner while supporting the mechanical needs of the production floor. The ideal candidate will have authorization to work in the U.S. This position IS NOT open to candidates seeking sponsorship or TN visas.Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 yrs. or more of trade/vocational schooling.
- Journeyman’s certificate or related experience required.
- Expertise in Tool Room equipment operation and maintenance, in the design and manufacturing of production fixtures, and maintenance and repair of injection molds.
- 5-10 years servicing the injection mold maintenance and repair of tooling.
- Experienced with overhead crane systems.
- Forklift licensed.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of mold construction, actions, ejection systems, & hot manifolds.
- Knowledge of measuring equipment and layout procedures.
- Experience using mill, Bridgeport, lathe, surface grinders, power hand tools, etc.
- TIG/MIG welding experience is highly desired.
- Able to read/interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and job specifications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work night shift (11:30 p.m. to 8 a.m., M-F).
- Physical ability to lift 55-60 pounds as required.
- Capability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Possess mechanical aptitude with the ability to tear-down and reassemble.
- Ability to perform math calculations to include percentages and decimals.
- Able to push, pull, bend, kneel, stoop, lift and twist on a repetitive basis.
- Capable of standing and walking for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance of molds.
- Maintains, repairs, recondition, adjust and ensure proper condition of molds.
- Troubleshoot and maintain hot runner and hydraulic systems.
- Performs fitting and polishing duties.
- Completes insert changes of molds.
- Fabricates jigs and fixtures.
- Works closely with outside vendors to expedite mold repairs as required.
- Observes mold trials & provides assistance to manufacturing department as needed.
- Completes all associated documents including work orders in system.
- Follows safety policies and keeps work areas clean and orderly.
