Elmet Technologies in Coldwater, Michigan has an immediate opening for a Tool and Die Technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position functions in a technical role in the department. Provide design, procurement of and inventory control functions necessary to assure proper tooling is available to meet scheduled requirements. Design new tooling concepts to improve productivity and lower costs. Work with manager to coordinate press scheduling with tooling availability. Be involved in press maintenance and assist during regular scheduled press shutdowns.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES/DUTIES
- Safe operation within assigned area (‘s).
- Design 2D and 3D tools in CAD/CAM software from a blueprint.
- Design, develop suitable and competent vendors, and purchase all extrusion tooling to meet customer product requirements.
- Assist with RFQ’s and scheduling of production orders with customer orders, tooling deliveries and press capabilities.
- Direct the activities of the Tooling Maintenance department to ensure timely deliveries and accurate job set-ups.
- Assist in the development of solutions and SOPs for customer product requirements.
- Direct/Assist Plant Engineering/Maintenance in Capital Projects and in process and equipment improvements.
- Has responsibility for records and procedures to maintain proper press alignment
- Assist metals department as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum requirement of a High School diploma
- 3 - 5 year’s industrial experience.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks 3-D modeling and ability to read blueprints required.
- Ability to weld and operate machine tools (lathes and mills) at basic level required.
- Knowledge in operation of power and hand tools, overhead cranes, and lift trucks.
- Must have thorough understanding of operating capabilities and limitations of tooling department equipment, including horizontal lathes, CNC mill, die coating and blasting equipment.
- Computer skills required include working knowledge of MS Works and Excel as well as advanced AutoCAD skills.
- Additional requirements include good communication skills, both verbal and written, a safe work history, and strong work ethics.
- This position requires mental stability, ability to handle stress, get along with and work well with others, ability to work independently, regular, and predictable attendance, ability to stay awake, ability to work full-time and overtime.
