POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Title Clerk
Department: Lending
Purpose: Title clerks prepare and process title documents to transfer ownership of property, typically vehicles or real estate.
Scope: Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President of Lending, incumbent performs a variety of routine duties related to the title functions. Must comply with applicable statutes and regulations including, but not limited, to the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, and follow all policies and procedures set forth by the credit union.
Reports To: Associate Vice President of Lending
Machine Skills: Fax Machine, P.C. experience including using MS Office, Copier/Scanner, 10 Key Calculator.
Job Specifications: To adequately perform this position, the incumbent must have the communication, mathematical and general business knowledge usually acquired by a high school graduate, plus a minimum of 6 months of customer service experience.
Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds. Job requires frequent viewing of computer screen, continual eye coordination and hand/wrist movement and finger manipulation. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time as well as stoop, bend and reach overhead.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Send titles to members (along with payoff letter), dealerships, credit unions and insurance companies for paid off loans and/or total losses.
· Send release of liens to members, dealerships, etc.
· Send titles to other states/entities when requested for vehicle registrations.
· Apply for certified copies of titles when requested.
· Send titles to collections department when requested.
· Verify incoming titles and/or white slips for new loans.
· Complete title work for 2-party sales, refinances, etc.
· Verify payoff checks to ensure the amount is sufficient to pay off the loan.
· Send or release checks to dealerships to pay for vehicle.
· Process Electronic Checks from Collections.
· Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
· Process electronic titles when necessary.
