GRPS MISSION: Our mission is to ensure that all students are educated, self-directed and productive members of society.THEATER MANAGERDepartment: Management Information SystemsUnit: Professional and Administrative ExemptSalary: Compensation range listed is based on an average 1-15 years of experience Grade 103 - Specific salary based on experience JOB SUMMARYThe Theater Manager is responsible for supervising, operating, and maintaining the district's theater spaces and all associated equipment, systems, and components. This position will facilitate and provide technical operation, assistance, and support to event planners and producers of events occurring in the theater facilities. This position involves regular travel for on-site work and includes maintaining logs and giving oral and/or written reports prepared in a professional manner regarding tasks/projects in progress and completed.

This position involves irregular working hours as dictated by events and projects. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule. This position reports to the Director of MIS.

Other essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Design, develop, implement, configure, and document audio, video, lighting, rigging, staging, communication and other theater systems and their components.Design, develop, implement, and document procedures and processes for maintaining theater systems and their components.Supervise theater facilities, systems, users, and crews for events.Act as advisor for student crew groups.Act as the primary point of contact for planners and producers of events and facilitate all aspects of theater event production needs.Perform repairs and configuration changes to theater system components as necessary.Design, hang, focus, and facilitate operation of basic lighting as necessary for events. Maintain and restore rep lighting plots.Design, implement, and facilitate operation of sound as necessary for events.Work closely with the district's Facilities and Operations division to maintain, repair, and replace theater facility systems and components to ensure theaters maintain a safe, operational, and secure environment.Work closely with MIS technicians to maintain infrastructure components to ensure interoperability with other systems and leverage modern transport and delivery protocols for connected systems.Maintain and develop operational knowledge of theater facilities and their systems and design recommendations for upgrades and renovations.Collaborate with designers and construction teams for theater renovation and upgrade projects. Act as the primary point of contact for such projects, monitoring progress and evaluating appropriate implementation and system integration, and providing timely and accurate feedback.Provide support and assistance to some non-theater event producers and crews operating at district facilities or on behalf of district-sponsored events.Provide regular progress and completion data to supervisor and other stakeholders as required.Interact with customers, co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and expertise through a continual education process, both formal and self-taught.Perform other tasks, as requested.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in technical theater or equivalent experience in event facility management, production, operation, and repair.Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in event facility management and systems design, configuration, and operation.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Operational and repair knowledge of lighting instruments, dimming, relay, patching, and control systemsOperational and repair knowledge of analog and digital audio and communication endpoints, interoperability, patching, applicable uses, and front-of-house operationOperational and repair knowledge of staging, orchestral shell, rigging and fly systemsOperational and repair knowledge of general theater facility and support systems both front- and back-of-houseOperational and repair knowledge of video endpoints, projectors, displays, livestreaming devices and software, digital distribution, and control systems. Operational knowledge of video editing, broadcast, and multicast transport systemsOperational knowledge of hybrid collaboration systems and their usability in theater spacesOperational knowledge of language interpretation systemsAbility to utilize digital design and presentation toolsAbility to analyze and interpret construction drawings and documentsAbility to research new ideas/concepts and possess a strong background in solving technical issues with careful, well thought out implementationsAbility to quickly learn new skillsThe ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under pressure individually or with customers and crew members of all skill levelsEffective oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to lead and teach othersDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environmentCustomer service focus with the ability to relate well with staff and the school community with excellent communication and cooperationDemonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals in a problem-solving situationDemonstrated project management, organizational and time management skillsADA REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
