Why does the job exist?
The position exist to ensure proper management of the Department of Health's budget. The budget consists of general fund, inter-agency funds and other revenues such as fee for service collections.
How does it get done?
This position leads, plans and manages the agency's appropriation and operating budget including any special or supplemental requests. This position works with 8 Divisions to ensure proper management of the budget is conducted within the Division and works with Divisions to provide guidance for management of respective Division budgets. This manages four (4) budget staff that provide assistance to Divisions within the agency. This position will provide training to budget/financial staff when required. In addition, this position is responsible for providing guidance and support to senior leadership during the legislative hearings.

The position works directly with upper management, Division Directors, financial staff.
Ideal Candidate
This position must have extensive experience in budgeting for a multi-million dollar state agency with complex funding. This position have have strong leadership and communication skills. This candidate must have strong excel experience and be able to handle different priorities at the same time. This position must have experience with the State financial system to include the Budget Financial Management system.
Minimum Qualification
A Master's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
