A Test Engineer job in Merritt Island, FL 32953 is currently available at Belcan. This is a full-time direct position with Belcan. As an integral member of the Umbilical's Engineering team you will prepare Umbilical Group Component test hardware and procedures. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of component testing. You will work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to translate engineering intent, testing requirements, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware on time and on budget. You will create work instructions and plans that define the build, install, and maintenance of Umbilical's hardware.
Job Duties:
• Author work orders for testing activities including panel installations, re-builds, removals, lifts, and other test support as required.
• Liaise between Design Engineering Team and Test facility technicians to ensure work orders meet the needs of tech data to be documented and clear instructions for the individuals performing the work.
• Identify and lead the procurement of test hardware, tooling, or storage hardware required to keep testing plans on schedule.
• Drive efficiency of testing by having all documentation and hardware prepared and released/available ahead of testing while modifying work orders used to test.
• Aid in the development of workaround plans when issues occur. Lead the investigation of test anomalies with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Providing feedback from the team on recommendations for processing or test solutions and ensuring team alignment on those process improvements.
• Plan, develop, and execute fluid and cryogenic systems tests for flight hardware, qualification units, and development units from the component level all the way up to spacecraft level Service test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
• Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the components and integrated vehicle, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the pertinent requirements
• Troubleshoot issues and anomalies that arise during testing
• Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks
• Contribute to root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
• Provide a weekly report-out to the New Glenn Umbilicals Team Leader(s)
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Electrical, or Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
• 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience working in a complex product testing environment where performance test tooling, and measurement instrumentation are the norm.
• Working knowledge of Jigs/Fixtures/Rigging/Test Tooling, Standard Work and Set-up Instructions. Hands on experience in hardware manufacturing (i.e. cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and
• Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software) Proven experience and successful track record of completing testing/manufacturing projects
• Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Schedule Tracking, Risk and Issue Tracking, Technical Report Writing, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, etc)
• Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100
• US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience using CREO and Windchill
• Experience with test measurement data acquisition systems and instrumentation
• Experience and knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly Experience with tool management systems (identification, storage, maintenance)
