- Perform acceptance testing / routine maintenance of Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment, relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor), pilot channel equipment (power line carrier, testing of carrier set, tuning unit, wave trap), pilot wire, transfer trip, fiber optic, CT’s, CCVT's, line tuners, line traps, etc., controls and communications equipment testing, verifying all metering (local and SCADA).
- Calibrating all relays; trip testing (local and SCADA), digital fault recorders (DFRs) and sequence of event recorders (SERs) and end-to-end line relay systems.
- Apply Electrical Engineering concept, principles, practices, and procedures of power systems protection and control.
- Apply test procedures for various types of relay test equipment.
- Maintain substation awareness and safety consciousness.
- Perform routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment in substations.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and completing test activities efficiently, on time, without service interruptions.
- Assist Lead Field Technician/ Field Engineer with leading projects and providing direct oversight of Field Service personnel. Duties require traveling to unanticipated clients’ worksites throughout continental United States on an average of every week from Monday morning to Thursday evening. Telecommuting on non-traveling days permitted.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field such as electronics, industrial or mechanical engineering; foreign degree equivalency accepted.
- 3 years of experience as Field Test Engineer or Protection and Control Engineer.
- Special skill: proficient in SCADA software.
