Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our network infrastructure through thorough audits, installation work order management, and engineering project management services.
Responsibilities:
1. Central Office Audit:
- Conduct comprehensive audits of OSP panels and cables in central and remote offices.
- Identify the location of panels within relay racks and mounting plates.
- Document the type of jack/fiber cable utilized in each panel.
- Record labeling information for jacks and cables.
- Document the type of jack (e.g., SC/LC/ST/D4) in each OSP panel.
- Cross-reference GIS applications to confirm cable connections and report any discrepancies.
2. Hi-Cap Network Installation Work Order Management:
- Manage engineering project services for all technologies and services including DSL, FTTP, and FTTCS.
3. ISPE Services:
- Add transport cards to devices such as SONET, ROADM, and routers.
- Install new Ethernet aggregation switches/routers.
- Retrofit Ethernet aggregation circuits, perform circuit migrations, and power augmentation.
- Add ROADM nodes to new or existing rings.
- Retrofit existing nodes with ROADM degrees.
- Install ROADM racks and perform power augmentation.
- Install new optical aggregation nodes and associated equipment.
4. Additional Responsibilities:
- Installation of SONET nodes and retrofitting, including power augmentation.
- Adding DSLAM cards and cables.
- Retrofitting sites to accommodate new devices.
- Performing fiber recovery for uplink installations.
- Installing Ethernet NIDs and termination devices.
- Adding cards and shelves for various systems including SONET and XPON.
- Placement of multiplexers and NIDs, including cabling and powering.
- DC power distribution and rectifier addition/replacement.
- Assessment and replacement of heat exchanger units to maintain proper operation parameters.
Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in CWDM, DC Power Supply, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), DSLAM, and Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) technologies.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Experience with network infrastructure audits and installations.
- Project management skills for coordinating complex engineering projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network infrastructure issues effectively.
