Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) is searching for a Technical Writer to assist the network engineering team and configuration management (CM) lead, to support Information Assurance (IA), In-Service Engineering (ISEA), Engineering and Technical Services in support of the Piers EPCA 2.0/WPCS 3.0 production at the Enterprise.
Tasking includes technical documentation creation, editing, and coordination as well as administrative functions heavily utilizing the program's CMPro CM repository. Work is performed primarily at the SRC company site with occasional support at the customer site in San Diego, CA.
PRIMARY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads technical data for use in documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications
- Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
- Works with a team consisting of engineers, cyber security, logistic, and information technology professionals to produce and deliver program artifacts and documentation
- Prepares documentation templates and sends to assigned Lead Engineers in CMPro
- Processes engineering documents in CMPro, and assigns project functional leads to review and sign documents as necessary
- Uses Acrobat Pro to prepare digital signatures in PDF file for signing
- Prepares templates and updates for quarterly assigned documents
- After an ECR enters Stage III (FRCB submission), uploads all associated Engineering documents on SAILOR
Requirements
MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Four (4) years of experience supporting Navy projects as a technical writer, CM and/or documentation specialist
- Experience writing/editing technical documentation, procedures and guidelines for Navy systems or equipment
- Ability to work with a wide range of contributors including Engineers, subject matter experts (SME), functional teams, and senior leadership
- Experience with CMPro
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Microsoft Excel
- Secret clearance
DESIRED SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Technical Writing
- Ability to effectively interact with and elicit information from engineers and other technical Subject Matter Experts to synthesize disparate data points into a focused message and communicate technical topics
- Knowledge of Fleet Readiness Certification Board (FRCB) and Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process
- Familiarity with Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) SAILOR website
SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL
