Intern Job Description

Are you passionate about digital media, entertainment, and software services? Do you like big challenges and working within a highly motivated team environment?

As a Software development Intern on the Customer UI experience team, you will have opportunity to learn and work with state of art technology to develop an application used by our technicians to service Xfinity Residential and Business customers for installs, changes and trouble calls for services such as Internet, Video, Voice, and Xfinity Home. You will learn and use cloud based micro-services and react or other modern frameworks for UI development. The application simplifies and streamlines their workflows by integrating various functions and eliminating multiple swivels to other applications and tools.

Who will the intern work with?

Developers are at the center of delivering features and functionalities of the application as required by business and hence will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and interactive environment along with peer developers, analysts, quality testers, designers, product owners and external teams along with Scrum Masters and managers who will be facilitating the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle). We have a mix of iOS developers, Java and UI developers and technical architects who are well rounded in technical capabilities and all aspects of design to delivery.

In your role, you will be working in a scrum/agile team that takes in user stories as part of a feature development and write, edit, review software that fulfils the functional, performance, security, and scalability requirements of the feature. You will be exposed to Mongo database, Spring Boot framework, iOS swift code, React, creating microservices in cloud, infrastructure setup and integrating into logging tools.

What are some interesting problems the intern will work on?

You will be working on some very interesting problems that will require imagination and strong analytical skills. For e.g., how to reduce equipment errors using ML. How to proactively guide technicians to use the right equipment and reduce provisioning errors.

Where can this intern make an impact?

You will be working collaboratively with intra and cross functional teams that will provide you with guidance in developing efficient code, debugging, and learning modern technologies. You will be delivering a smart product for our technicians that will enable them to provide a wonderful experience for our customers! You will be grooming soft skills such as presenting product demos, communicating to leaders and executives, DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) practices, and finally having fun in a great company!.

Job Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop application functionality through quality coding based on design and UX specifications
  • Collaborate with peer developers, architects, scrum master, product owners and other technical teams to develop the software.
  • Leverage standard tools & procedures for code check in, code analysis, code testing, CI/CD deployment and release management and postproduction support to ensure end-to-end delivery

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Java or Python or another programming language
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Exposure to a database
  • Some experience in developing a software application (including class project)

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from a United States-based college or university
  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior with an anticipated graduation date of December 2024, Spring 2025, December 2025 or Spring 2026.
  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting. Internship roles will be office-based with no virtual offerings.
  • Recommended GPA: 3.0 (candidates will be evaluated on overall skills, education, and experience)

Base Pay: $32.00
