Job Summary:Private Client Services at BDO is a boutique practice within our firm. Offering a high touch approach, we have extensive experience serving high net-worth individuals, their families, family offices, C-Suite executives, athletes, entertainers, as well as other people with complicated tax and financial structures. The Private Client Services Practice is experienced in all aspects of estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving and philanthropic foundations; executive compensation; and cash-flow, retirement, and life insurance planning.Job Duties:A Private Client Services (PCS) Manager is responsible for utilizing their educational background and professional experience as well as their communication, time management, leadership, technical, business development, and people skills to provide tax compliance and consulting services to our high net-worth clients. Manages tax and consulting engagements and enhance skills allowing you to identify and address client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunitiesWorks directly with clients and their advisors to gather information needed to prepare tax returnsReviews individual, trust, estate, S-Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns and provides written and verbal feedback to staff and internsDirects communication with government agencies for matters of the highest complexityIdentifies technical issues, conducts advanced tax research, and develops sound recommendations for PCS leadershipDevelops and expands your understanding of tax concepts and knowledge through client engagements and current tax developmentsPrioritizes and completes tasks both individually and with a teamAssists with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities including billing, recruiting, attendance and participation in CPE activities and trainingBuilds new relationships and maintains existing relationships with BDO professionals and external sourcesSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises associates and senior associates on all projectsReviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review commentsTrains Associates and Seniors how to use all current software toolsActs as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associatesSchedules and manages workload of associates and senior associatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associatesQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, preferredMaster's degree in Accountancy or Taxation, preferredExperience:Five (5) or more years prior experience in accounting, finance, or law, requiredExperience working in public accounting, or the Private Client service area, preferredLicense/Certifications:Certified Public Accountant credential, Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") credential, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or the equivalent of one of these designations, requiredPossession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferredSoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat, requiredExperience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep), preferredExperience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint and Lexis Nexis), preferredLanguages:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:InitiativeOwns their own career and technical development; demonstrates self-awareness, actively pursues projects and learning experiences to fill in their technical knowledge gapsManages client engagements, supervises, and reviews work of team membersCommunicationExpresses themselves effectively verbally and in writing; takes complex thoughts, synthesizes them into works using clear, concise language, and presents a cohesive narrativeMaintains communication with clients even after the work is complete to ensure quality service and maintain a relationship for future work Resolves client service issues in a timely and acceptable mannerLeadershipSupports a collaborative and team-oriented environment while pushing themselves, their peers, and their teams for strong results and quality workAbility to act as primary client contact for return preparation and coordination with client and engagement team on other client tax mattersBusiness DevelopmentSeizes opportunities for new professional contacts when presented; Actively networks professionally outside of BDOInvolves firm specialists and other business lines to increase cross service opportunitiesPeople DevelopmentSupervises, develops, and trains employeesActs as a mentor to associates and senior associatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associatesIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.California Range: $102,300 - $150,000 New York City/ Valhalla Range: $110,000 - $150,000 Washington Range: $86,000 - $115,000 BDO delivers assurance, tax, digital technology solutions and financial advisory services to clients throughout the country and around the globe.
